Cortex Lite
A downloadable game
Cortex Lite is a tabletop roleplaying game, created as a sleek and simple example of a game built with Cortex Prime, a toolkit of rules which serves as the engine for many other games. Cortex Lite is designed as a generic tabletop RPG, a basic system you can use to run games in any setting.
This 32-page booklet is a complete game playable by itself, or easily modded and extended with other Cortex mods. It includes game rules, character creation, GM guidance, a distinction builder, and a whole bunch of SFX, Limits, and Milestones.
Cortex Lite is Primed by Cortex, the award-winning world-building tabletop RPG system for forging unique, compelling game experiences from a set of modular rules mechanics.

Heya!
Just a heads-up that there's no mention in the early text about how there's always an effect die (you have to find that particular mention much later in the document).
It's probably because you all know Cortex well that there was this oversight. But as someone who've never played Cortex before, I kept wondering how was I supposed to add two dice and use the last one as the effect if I didn't have a third relevant traits beyond the first two.
:)
Ah thanks, we'll add that to the errata for the next version. :)
Hello and congratulations for the amazing job.
Could you please clarify under what license is Cortex Lite?
Can derivative works be made?
Thank you!
Cortex Lite is published under the Cortex community license. (Commercial licenses are available as well). Derivative works can be released for free/pay-what-you-want via the community license, or for profit if you obtain a commercial license from Dire Wolf Digital.
Thanks!
I was looking for the community license to use for my own project and there's just nothing. Anywhere.
Did you just manage to get this out before they shut it down, or what?
The text is gone, but we’ve been told by DWD employees that the previous license still stands and can be used for future works. The gist of it was:
This is amazing, thank you so much Xine team!
A great way to understand Cortex. Even as rules reference sheets.
